Assistant Water Director - Plant Operations

The Water Utility provides drinking water, wastewater and reclaimed water service to the City of Fort Worth retail population, wholesale water service to 30 communities, wholesale wastewater service to 23 communities, and wholesale, reclaimed water service to three customers. The Utility is organized into six divisions: Plant Operations, Field Operations, Strategic Operations, Capital Project Delivery, Management Services, and Customer Care. POSITION SUMMARY The Assistant Director over Plant Operations provides leadership, management and oversight to a division with 232 full time employees who operate and maintain five water treatment plants with a combined treatment capacity of 500 million gallons per day (MGD) and one regional water reclamation facility with a permitted capacity of 166 MGD. The division also operates and maintains facilities used in the water distribution and wastewater collection systems, including 21 booster pump stations, 29 water storage tanks, wholesale water meter stations, wastewater lift stations, and wholesale wastewater water meter stations. The Assistant Director is part of the Utility’s Executive Team, providing counsel, guidance, direction, and support to the Utility Director in the implementation of the Utility’s mission. The Assistant Director over Plant Operations is responsible for leading the efforts of the division to exceed established water quality, regulatory, and performance standards. Modeling and promoting close collaboration with other divisions within the Utility. Design and construction of Utility capital projects are managed by staff from Capital Project Delivery Division, who work with Plant Operations staff in the design, scheduling, construction, and startup of capital projects at Utility facilities. Close coordination of field activities between the Field Operations and Plant Operations divisions.
