The City of Stockton is seeking to fill a vacancy in our Municipal Utilities Department for the position of Assistant Engineer. Under general supervision from a Senior or Associate Civil Engineer, incumbent will be responsible for a variety of engineering work in connection with the design and construction of public works projects. Public Works projects include, but are not limited to drainage, water, and wastewater collection, distribution and treatment system improvements. Incumbents should have knowledge and experience related to the distribution and treatment of drinking water, the collection and treatment of sanitary sewer and collection of storm sewer. Knowledge of sewer pump stations and sewer and water treatment plant processes is a plus. If selected to fill a vacancy, incumbents will work a City of Stockton 9/80 schedule: 7:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Fridays, with alternating Fridays off.

Possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited four (4) year college or university with major course work in civil engineering or a closely related field, or possession of a valid California registration as a Licensed Land Surveyor and two (2) years of engineering experience in design, development review, construction, or traffic planning or operations.

Possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited four (4) year college or university with major course work in civil engineering or a closely related field, and two (2) years of engineering experience in design, development review, construction, or traffic planning or operations. Must also possess a valid California registration as a Professional Civil Engineer.
Possession of a valid California registration as a Professional Civil Engineer and six (6) years of engineering experience in design, development review, construction, or traffic planning or operations. Possession of an Associate of Arts degree or completion of sixty semester units or equivalent quarter hours from an accredited college or university with major course work in pre-engineering or a closely related curriculum may be substituted for two years of the experience.
Must possess a valid California driver's license.
Specified positions may require a willingness to work out of doors in all weather conditions and physical strength to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 60 pounds.
