Supervises all phases of water and sewage treatment plant operations.
Plans priorities of work and establishes schedules of treatment plant operators; establishes chemical dosage required for water treatment plant based on laboratory analysis of water samples; directs corrections of abnormal operating conditions revealed by treatment plant operator reports.
Enforces safety precautions for employees and the public, implementing preventive maintenance programs and estimating costs for water and wastewater treatment plant projects.
Develops and implements the budget for the operation division; prepares technical reports to ensure that the costs are within the constraints of the budget; makes suggestions for cost effective programs and approving expenditures.
Oversees the division payroll process; directs training and safety programs for personnel; makes decisions regarding hiring, discipline and promotion of subordinates; authorizes leave of absence and overtime.
Develops and implements, as needed, plans for emergencies in the Division; communicates emergency plans with the public.
Consults with and assists engineers regarding needed plant improvements, plant modifications and the replacement of electrical and mechanical sewage flow and treatment control equipment; investigates and reviews new sewage methods and supervises development of improved methods.
Thorough responsible experience in the operation and maintenance of a water and sewage treatment plant or related facility.
Possession of “B” Water and Wastewater Operator’s Certificate, as approved by the State of Florida preferred.
Possession of a valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
