We are seeking a experienced candidate to promote the coordinated and efficient use of multi-modal transportation systems throughout the county and greater Metro Denver region. This position will focus on the expansion and improvement of regional transportation systems, provide multi-modal transportation planning and implementation, conduct regional transportation planning, pursue the expansion of transit options within the county, and foster the creation and implementation of various supportive programs related to transportation services and transit oriented development, as well as assist the Director and the Deputy Director of Community and Economic Development in the broader implementation of department goals, objectives, and programs.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES FOR SUCCESS:
Promotes transportation systems which embrace a variety of modes in a manner that efficiently maximizes the mobility of people and goods while minimizing energy use, air pollution, and negative social impacts.
Coordinates with the Long-Range Planning staff to see that the county's transportation plans and transportation services are consistent with existing and desired land development patterns.
Coordinates the four-year Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) federal funds strategy, in cooperation with participating agencies, the department director and deputy director, the Public Works department, executive staff, and others.
Participates in a broad range of transportation technical advisory committees as a representative of Adams County and its established interests and priorities, formalized by the County's plans, decisions, and directives offered by executive staff and the Board of County Commissioners.
Provides technical support and may serve as the staff liaison to executive staff and elected officials participating in transportation related boards.
Coordinates and develops intergovernmental agreements with municipalities and state agencies and others in support of the County's transportation plans.
Develops and maintains an awareness of sensitive or political issues related to transportation.
Identifies and works to implement important connections to transit stations within Adams County, also known as last-mile and first-mile connections.
Coordinates transportation program planning and project activities with the department leadership, other County departments, the general public, and other community and advocacy organizations
Researches, develops, and writes grant applications for future funding.
Develops the potential for future expansion of transit and regional transportation options throughout the County.
Assists existing transportation providers with the development and implementation of transportation marketing and educational strategies as requested.
Performs other related duties and responsibilities as required.
An equivalent combination of related education, training, and experience that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and ability to effectively perform the functions of this position may be considered.
Experience: Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience with transportation planning, mobility coordination, transportation coordination, or a related field.
Education and Training:
A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Transportation/Urban Planning, Business/Public Administration, or a related field is required.
A Master's Degree in Transportation/Urban Planning, Business/Public Administration, or a related field, is preferred and may substitute for two (2) years of the required experience.
License and Certificate: Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid driver's license.
