The Town of Paradise Valley invite’s your interest in our Hillside Development Administrator position. Under general supervision this position performs professional land use and engineering assignments related to the application of Article XXII – Hillside Development Regulations of the Town’s Zoning Ordinance
Develops, carries out and coordinates effective and efficient land use services, including review of hillside development applications for compliance with applicable zoning regulations as well as engineering design standards related to grading and drainage.
Assists the public with hillside development applications, including answering questions regarding hillside development regulations, policies, and procedures.
Prepares agendas, staff reports and presents projects for consideration by the Hillside Building Committee.
Interacts with Town officials, developers, citizens, and Town staff to compile, interpret, and present research data regarding hillside development projects.
Reviews zoning and building plans for compliance with hillside development regulations.
Inspects existing and new developments, as needed, to ensure compliance with applicable regulations, policies, and approved plans.
Provides staff assistance to advisory bodies regarding zoning issues, engineering issues, ordinances and policies to facilitate hillside development, code enforcement and code updates.
Confers with engineers, developers, architects, property owners, consultants and the general public in acquiring information and coordinating Department matters, and providing information regarding hillside development requirements.
Assists the public at the Engineering and Community Development counter and by telephone.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Knowledge of Town regulations, codes, policies, and procedures regarding hillside development regulations.
Knowledge of Town regulations, codes, policies, and procedures regarding grading and drainage design.
Knowledge of basic engineering, community development and planning principles and theories.
Knowledge of Town code and zoning ordinances.
Knowledge of municipal engineering, planning and zoning-oriented computer systems and software.
Skill in reading and interpreting complex rules, regulations, policies, procedures, and related materials, including building plans, specifications, and building codes.
Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with management, engineers, architects, contractors, co-workers, and the public.
Skill in preparing a variety of written and oral reports and presentations.
Ability to speak, read and write in the English language
Experience equivalent to four years full time technical/professional planning, zoning, or engineering work. A Bachelor's degree in Urban Municipal Planning, Architecture, Public Administration, Civil Engineering or closely related area. Certification by the American Institute of Certified Planners and/or Professional Engineering License preferred but not required.
