The City of Modesto, California is conducting a state-wide search for the position of Traffic Engineer. The Traffic Engineer position is an excellent opportunity for a career motivated individual to provide responsible staff assistance to the Public Works Director and also oversee the Traffic Engineering Division, with an approximate staff of 21. This career opportunity has become available due to the recent retirement of the Traffic Engineer after 39 years with the City of Modesto. The Traffic Engineering Division is responsible for the design of traffic signals and operation of Advanced Traffic Management Systems, including maintaining the citywide accident database and citizen inquiries. The unit also assists the Community Development Department in analyzing traffic impacts of proposed developments and recommends solutions.
A Bachelor’s degree in civil and/or traffic engineering or a closely related field of study is required. This position requires a minimum of 3 years of increasingly responsible professional level experience in traffic engineering; including 1 year providing technical and functional supervision over assigned personnel. The position also requires possession of a valid Certificate of Registration as a Traffic Engineer issued by the California State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers. The City of Modesto is offering a competitive salary of $105,486 - $127,872.
