The South Florida Water Management District (District) is a regional governmental agency that manages the water resources in the southern half of the state, covering 16 counties from Orlando to the Florida Keys and serving a population of 8.1 million residents. It is the oldest and largest of the state's five water management districts. Created in 1949, the agency is responsible for managing and protecting water resources of South Florida by balancing and improving flood control, water supply, water quality and natural systems.
The District is seeking candidates to fill three Engineering/ Construction Specialist positions to complete discipline related assignments for construction projects or perform construction management functions for various projects that support the agency’s core mission of flood control, restoration and water supply. Construction projects include pump stations, water control structures, reservoirs, storm water treatment areas and related works. Successful applicants must pass a background screening, including fingerprinting, as a condition of employment.
Positions may be filled as either:
Senior Engineering/ Construction Specialist: Typically has Bachelor's Degree in a related discipline such as but not limited to Civil, Construction or Structural Engineering and 4+ years' experience that demonstrates measurable career and technical progression that can be applied to support the Engineering and Construction Bureau’s work plan and the District’s business plans and strategies.
Engineering/ Construction Specialist: Typically has Bachelor's Degree in a related discipline such as but not limited to Civil, Construction or Structural Engineering and 2+ years' experience that demonstrates measurable career and technical progression that can be applied to support the Engineering and Construction Bureau's work plan and the District's business plans and strategies.
Licenses: Valid State of Florida Driver's License. Prefer candidates who are pursing the process for attaining State of Florida Professional Engineer (PE) license.
