The Traffic Engineering Analyst performs highly technical, professional level traffic engineering related to traffic issues, in the Street Operations Department.

STREET OPERATIONS - TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT CENTER ASSIGNMENT
Listens and communicates with and provides information and technical advice to Traffic Management Center and Traffic Signals staff, other city divisions and the public.
Maintains and updates the city's advanced traffic management system (ATMS) and databases.
Creates and maintains the city's traffic signal system models.
Prepares Basic Timing updates per current city policies and develops corridor timing plans, as needed.
Conducts travel time studies, using multiple data sources where available, and documents results.
Performs investigations of traffic congestion or crash trends by reviewing available data and reports, and performing operational analysis and site observations to identify and evaluate potential countermeasures and mitigations.
Coordinates with consultants for project tasks and quality control; manages projects such as Traffic Signal Optimization Projects (TSOP), as needed.
Develops performance measurements, performs data collection, analyzes and documents operations on intersection and corridor levels as directed.
Reviews construction plans and specifications for the installation or modification of traffic signals and/or associated communication systems.
Prepares presentation materials and represents the city in public and Transportation Commission meetings related to Street Operations, as needed.
May be required to act in absence of ITS Traffic Engineer, and provide coverage for Traffic Management Center personnel when needed for staffing coverage.
Education and Experience
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering/technology field from an Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) accredited school.
An equivalent combination of education and job related experience may substitute for the educational requirements on a year-for-year basis.
Licensing, Certifications and Other Requirements
Preferred Qualification: Must obtain an Engineer In Training (EIT) certificate within twelve months from date of hire.
