The Biomedical Engineering Department at Virginia Commonwealth University invites applications from qualified candidates for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level to begin no later than Fall 2018.
Position: Candidates should possess a sincere desire to engage in research that makes a positive difference in our community and human kind. The department is especially interested in candidates able to apply convergent approaches to all areas of research within the department including but not limited to bioimaging, biomaterials, biomechanics, computational medicine, instrumentation, mechanobiology, regenerative medicine, rehabilitation and human factors engineering. The ability to teach undergraduate and graduate core courses and develop new courses in these areas is also highly desirable.
Qualifications: Faculty candidates should have a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering or a related discipline and are expected to teach courses in the program at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Successful candidates will be expected to secure or have (in the case of Associate or Full Professor) an outstanding track record of extramural funding. Applicants will be required to develop a research program that expands and complements existing expertise in the department and the School of Engineering. The School of Engineering at VCU supports a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment. The candidate will demonstrate experience that shows their commitment to fostering such an environment. Biomedical Engineering at Virginia Commonwealth University offers the B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. degrees and collaborates closely with clinicians and biomedical scientists on the VCU Medical Center in downtown Richmond, Virginia. There are presently 22 faculty in the Department. The School of Engineering is undergoing a period of rapid expansion and will double the number of its faculty over the next five years.
